What’s the difference between a wedding planner and a wedding stylist?

If you’re new to wedding planning or the wedding industry you may have heard of a wedding planner. But have you heard of a wedding stylist? And what do they even do? Well I’m here to help break it down, I actually offer both services because part of being a wedding planner is supporting you with the design and styling for your wedding. However, predominately  a wedding planner job is helping you plan your wedding from admin, design and creating an experience. Whereas a wedding stylist is also a job on it’s own. A wedding/event stylist job is purely looking and designing and creating the aesthetic design and visual of the day. So let’s dive more into what’s the difference between a wedding planner and a wedding stylist ?

Firstly what is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner if your go to person who supports you with logistics, supplier recommendation, contract negotiation, and will execute your vision. They make the whole process simple and seamless, and save you tones of hours of research. A planner keeps you on track with your budget and handle all the logistics takes away SO much of stress, and tedious admin. They look after the suppliers, make sure everyone has one they need to give you the best service possible. They take second guessing and overthinking to make sure you have an incredible wedding.

Some planners also provide design and styling services like myself, who also are able to support with the creativity needed to transform a space, and offer a full service, and are with you every step of the way.

I think the flex you should be most proud of is how you make al your couples feel comfortable and seure about this whole process. We’ve gotten stressed so many times, but anytime we were feeling over our heads, we were able to truly relac after a chat with you. Where your kindly assured us that you’d handle the details. We couldn’t have imagined navigating this whole thing without your guidance

Now what is a wedding stylist?

Okay now we know what a wedding planner does, here’s what a wedding stylist does.

A wedding stylist role is solely based on the aesthetic of the wedding and doesn’t include things like contract negotiations or attending appointments with the couple. But what a stylist does it support with creating mood board, colour palettes, choosing linens, flowers, stationery, furniture or decor hire. A stylist will support you to create a cohesive design and make sure all the details and elements work together and help you transform a space, through clever design.

We tend to work closely with florist, stationery, and cake supplier or anyone who is providing elements of your day that are linked to the aesthetics of the day

TOP TIP - Make sure you do your research - there are many wonderful creatives in this industry. You have to choose the one that suits your vibe, style and personality. And try not to let money be the deciding factor - the reason some suppliers are more expensive is due to experience, talent and industry knowledge.

I have over 12 years of experience in the events and wedding industry. Working as event coordinator for a venue finding company, worked as a venue coordinator and senior wedding coordinator at 2 venues. As well as 5 of those years launching and running my own business. You get access to ALL of that knowledge when you book me.
